Pragmatic Deans lives and dies by results

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Beating the British and Irish Lions in the upcoming test series might save the job of Wallabies coach Robbie Deans but it is unlikely to transform the New Zealander's public image as a ruthless pragmatist.

The most successful coach in the history of southern hemisphere provincial rugby after winning five Super Rugby titles with the Canterbury Crusaders, the man dubbed "Dingo Deans" has enjoyed less success in the test arena.
