KUANTAN: A combination of the hot and humid weather condition and her own searing pace saw Elena Goh Lin Yin of Kuala Lumpur collapse immediately after crossing the finish line in record time in the girls’ Under-18 5,000m walk event at the National Schools (MSSM) Athletics Championships at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan.
But at least the 17-year-old can be proud that she managed to break her own record by more than five seconds after clocking 25:46.13 to erase her previous mark of 25:51.82 set in Kangar last year.
