KUALA LUMPUR: Squash’s bid to be included for the 2020 Olympics gained momentum with several former Malaysian Olympians showing up to show their support during the CIMB KL Open yesterday.
The International Olympic Council (IOC) will meet in May to select three sports from eight – squash, baseball/softball, wakeboarding, sport climbing, karate, wushu, roller sport and wrestling – for the final selection process in September. With world No. 1 Nicol David actively lobbying for the sport to be included in the Olympics, it seems she has finally gotten the attention of her fellow Malaysians.
