KUALA LUMPUR: Teenager Iskandar Alwi only took up pole vaulting four years ago. But you would not have guessed it by the way he broke the men’s national record at the FTAAA All Comers athletics championships at the National Sports Council (NSC) Training Track in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
The 19-year-old achieved a personal best of 5.01m to erase the 11-year-old mark of 5.00m set by his coach Teh Weng Chang at the same meet and venue in March 2002.
