Nicol bounces back in New York, battling Low falls

PETALING JAYA: World No. 1 Nicol David restored normal order with a dominant display in the first round of the Carol Weymuller Open but it was national No. 2 Low Wee Wern who almost stole the limelight in New York yesterday.

The 29-year-old Nicol, playing in her first tournament since the stunning defeat to Egypt’s Raneem El Weleily in the Malaysian Open earlier this month, bounced back superbly to beat Australia’s Kasey Brown 11-9, 11-5, 11-6.
