Ahmad finding life tough in elite class

PETALING JAYA: Former top Malaysian Cub Prix rider Ahmad Fazli Sham (pic) is finding life tough in his debut season in the SuperSports 600cc class of the PETRONAS Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

After winning the national cub title twice, expectations were understandably high for the 30-year-old to do well in the higher class. However, a bad crash in the season’s opening leg (Batu Kawan) caused serious set-backs for the Taiping-born rider as he had to grit his teeth and endured the pain through several rounds of competition, ultimately delaying his learning curve astride the Yamaha R6.
