PETALING JAYA: The youngest players stole the day when Cheam June Wei and S. Kisona cleared their first hurdles in the boys’ and girls’ singles event respectively in the Asian Junior Badminton Championships in Gimcheon, South Korea, yesterday.
The 15-year-old June Wei outshone his older compatriots – Tan Kian Meng and Chong Yee Han – in his first major tournament by stunning 12th seed Joshi Pratul of India 18-21, 21-18, 21-19 in the second round.
