PETALING JAYA: Jazeman Jaafar held on to the championship lead in the British F3 International Series after wrapping up the fourth round at Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby with two more top 10 finishes.
Jazeman notched sixth place in the second race and fourth in the third to open up a 13-point lead over closest challenger and Carlin team-mate Jack Harvey ahead of the fifth round in Brands Hatch in two weeks’ time.
Jazeman is perched at the top of the standings for the first time after completing a race weekend with 137 points, with Harvey trailing close behind on 124.
The Petronas talent programme driver had celebrated a dominant win in the first race on Saturday but started the second from eighth on the grid due to the reverse grid format.
Jazeman had the podium in his sights for the final race as he chased down Carlin team-mate Carlos Sainz Jr but was kept at bay.
Reflecting on his weekend, Jazeman was happy to finish with another strong weekend.
“I’m very happy to get an outright win in the first race. Leading the championship is good, although there’s still a long way to go and my focus is on each individual race at the moment.
“Three top six race finishes, including a very special win, and a haul of 37 points is a good weekend’s work,” said the 19-year-old.
Jazeman has a rare weekend off next week before he returns to the track at Brands Hatch, Kent.
