PETALING JAYA: Jazeman Jaafar may be only two months into his race season but he has already notched two milestones – a first win in the British F3 Series and a maiden victory in the F3 Euro Series.
The young Malaysian is hoping to continue his winning ways as he heads to Red Bull Ring in Austria for his second guest race weekend of the F3 Euro Series.
Jazeman is, however, taking a cautious approach as it is a track he has not visited before and, unlike many circuits, has not even sampled it on the simulator.
“Red Bull Ring only opened a few years ago after being closed for seven years. Since then, there have only been one DTM event and an F2 championship round held there so there’s little recent track data available,” said the 19-year-old who has kept a perfect streak of podium finishes in all his race weekends.
“Competing in F3 Euro Series is a chance for me to learn these different tracks and that’s the real purpose of going there.
“But that doesn’t mean I won’t be going all out to win because I’m a racer at heart. Still, as this venue is new to me, I’m not sure how competitive I’ll be.”
Jazeman, part of the Petronas Talent Programme, is keen to continue the momentum in Austria.
“I’m still learning the car’s characteristics when it’s running on Hankook tyres, as we will be doing for this event. It will be quite a challenge as I don’t have any experience of the track,” he said.
