KANGAR: It’s business as usual for the Flying Sikh Karamjit Singh as he swept past the field to win Round One in the second leg of the Malaysian Rally in Kangar yesterday.

Karamjit, the defending champion, completed the 62km course to clock 40:39 and beat the winner of the opening round in Manjung, Brian Green of New Zealand, who posted 41:22.6. Muhammad Rafiq Udhaya, the 2010 overall champion, was third in 42:59.3.

There is the promise of more to come from Karamjit when he unveils his “new” Mitsubishi Lancer which is now lying in the docks in Port Klang at the next Rally in Johor Baru.

“The GSR Repsol Air Asia Team for which I am driving has bought the three-year-old car from New Zealand and once everything is set up, we will have a better car,” said Karamjit.

“I have always said that as long as my car don’t give me problems I will be fine.

“My target is to win every race and it will be no different from now on. Kangar was fine, the conditions were good and I am happy,” said Karamjit.
