KUALA LUMPUR: ESPN Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the London 2012 Olympic Games, announced that its coverage on Astro will be the biggest and the most extensive — across 15 channels.
It will deliver round-the-clock coverage on the Games from July 27 until Aug 12, offering Malaysians unprecedented access with more than 3,600 hours of coverage.
This includes 24-hour coverage on channels ESPN (Astro Ch 812), Star Sports (Astro Ch 813), ESPN HD (Astro Ch 832), ESPNEWS (Astro Ch 818) and for the first time ever, 10 dedicated high-definition ESPN Star Sports channels.
In addition, there will be a special channel called ESPN 3D London 2012 Olympic Games channel which will showcase key events.
“We are very pleased to present the most comprehensive coverage of the Games in partnership with Astro,” said Manu Sawhney, ESPN Star Sports managing director, during the launch in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
“With so many top Malaysian athletes seeking Olympic glory, we are looking forward to the London 2012 Olympic Games being a top favourite watch among local sports fans,” he said.
“To further enhance fans’ experience, we have lined up over 680 hours of build-up and original programming, and along with our talents, will be bringing the highlights of the Games.”
In the lead-up to the Games, there will be a special production called Living The Dream, a 30-minute show which provides an in-depth look at 24 of Asia’s top athletes from six countries including our own Azizul Hasni Awang (track cycling), Josiah Ng (track cycling), Datuk Lee Chong Wei (badminton), Fatehah Mustapa (track cycling), Pandalela Rinong (women’s diving) and Khairul Anuar Mohamad (men’s archery).
