Ahmad Sarji retained as ALBF president

PETALING JAYA: Incumbent Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid was unanimously returned as president of the Asian Lawn Bowls Federation (ALBF) for a fifth term at their biennial Board of Governors meeting at the National Lawn Bowls Complex in Bukit Kiara yesterday.

China’s Ye Sui Ying takes over from fellow countryman, Jackie Wong, as deputy president, while the two vice-presidents are India’s Sunaina Kumari (vice-president 1) and Hong Kong’s Vincent Chung (vice-president 2).

The secretary and assistant secretary will be appointed by the president.

The incumbent secretary is Ramble Dallan Rice-Oxley, who is the secretary general of the Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation (MLBF) while the assistant secretary is Norcigi Ismail, also the assistant secretary of MLBF.

Ahmad Sarji said he hopes to see an increase in the membership from 14 to 18 nations by 2014.

The board also decided that the 10th Asian Lawn Bowls Championship this year will be hosted by India and by China next year.
