PETALING JAYA: The battle for the last singles slot in the Thomas Cup Finals for several Malaysian back-up hopefuls is set to hot up in the Australian Open, which begins in Sydney today.
With Liew Daren set to be at second singles, it will be a scramble among Mohd Arif Abdul Latif, Chan Kwong Beng and Chong Wei Feng to state their cases for a reserve spot in the team event in Wuhan, China, from May 20-27.
