Japan's Kitajima makes solid start to London bid


TOKYO (Reuters) - Kosuke Kitajima eased into the semi-finals of the men's 100-metres breaststroke at the Japan championships on Monday as the multiple Olympic champion began his quest for London.

A chiselled-looking Kitajima, who won the 100 and 200 breaststroke double at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, clocked the fastest time of 1:00.23 minutes at Tokyo's Tatsumi Pool.
