PETALING JAYA: Squash queen Datuk Nicol Ann David and world number one badminton player Datuk Lee Chong Wei are among the five shortlisted candidates for the SAM-100PLUS “Athlete of the Year (2011)“ Award.
The Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) narrowed down the nominees from the initial 11 to five yesterday. The other three in contention for the prestigious award are national shooter Nur Suryani Taibi, bowler Jacqueline Jenelee and cyclist Fateha Mustafa.
