Sprinter springs biggest surprise by claiming Malaysia’s first gold

Mohd Edrus Yunos sprang the biggest surprise on the second day of the Asian Cycling Championships by claiming Malaysia’s first gold medal at the Cheras Velodrome yesterday.

The 25-year-old’s entry in the 1km time trial was only decided by coach John Beasley at the last minute but he justified the faith shown in him by coming out tops with a personal best time of 1:06.547.
