KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Athletics Union (MAU) deputy president Karim Ibrahim is ready to meet National Sports Council (NSC) director–general Datuk Zolkples Embong to resolve the dispute between the two bodies.
Karim told Bernama Radio24’s “Kerusi Panas” programme that he would write to Zolkples today to set up a meeting soon.
“I have no problem in resolving the matter. The time has come for us to look forward and not fight and resort to the blame game. I’m sincere in wanting to resolve the dispute.
“I’m willing to meet him. Whether he is prepared to meet me or not ... it’s up to him,” said Karim.
He also dismissed calls by certain parties for him to resign, stressing that it would be irresponsible to leave the MAU in this time of crisis.
“When the association face problems, I can’t back off just like that; that’s not the way,” he said. — Bernama
