PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s interest in the Jena International ended after Mohd Asyraf Azan (pic) crashed to a surprise defeat in the quarter-finals in Kuwait on Thursday.

Second-seeded Asyraf, ranked 77th in the world, found Egypt’s world No. 176 Karim Ali Fathy too strong, going down 9-11, 7-11, 11-4, 8-11 in 60 minutes.
