PETALING JAYA: Kenneth de Silva and Tan Wei Chean will line up as the Malaysian representatives for the Etiqa Asean Cup at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) from Aug 8-11.
Five other countries – Singapore, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia – have confirmed their participation. Competition will surely be stiff, with many talented golfers in the mix.
Among them are Singapore’s Jerome Ng, defending champion of the Negri Sembilan Amateur Open, and top Filipino amateur Clyde Mondilla.
The Asean Cup highlights the best two players from the participating Asean countries. Myanmar, made up of Nay Bala Win Myint and Myo Win Aung, were the maiden winners of the tournament last year when they triumphed with a four-day total of seven-under 281.
The first and third days will be played using the four-ball (best ball) format while the second and final days will feature the foursome (alternate shots) format.
