Hafiz’s challenge in New Zealand International fizzles out

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s challenge in the New Zealand International Challenge badminton tournament fizzled out after KLRC’s Mohd Hafiz Hashim and two doubles pair crashed out against lesser known opponents in the semi-finals in Auckland yesterday.

Hafiz, who had beaten Kazumasa Sakai of Japan 21-14, 21-9 earlier in the quarter-finals, simply ran out of steam against another Japanese, unheralded Riichi Takeshita and lost 13-21, 15-21.
