KUALA LUMPUR: Teams competing in the Tour of Langkawi (LTdL) are expected to arrive in Langkawi on Tuesday.
“All teams except Aisan Cycling Team will start arriving from Tuesday onwards. Aisan have already arrived in Langkawi earlier to undergo training,” said LTdL operations director Emir Abdul Jalal after receiving a sponsorship pledge from Figos Sdn Bhd at LTdL office at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil on Thursday.
According to Emir, Aisan from Japan had already arrived in Langkawi, last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, during the sponsorship pledge, LTdL executive officer Mohamed Salleh received RM50,000 sponsorship pledge from Figos Managing Director Tang Kok Wai.
Figos would provide apparel and shoes for the LTdL secretariat and would also be a part of the Calvacade convoy to promote the race.
After a four-year absence, the Hors status tour which starts from Jan 23 to Feb 1, returns to Langkawi and is expected to be flagged off by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The 2011 LTdL comprising 10 stages will cover a distance of 1,315.4km. — Bernama
