PETALING JAYA: Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali is gearing up to put himself back on track in the chase for the Wira category title in Round 8 of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships at Taman Tasik Sultan Abu Bakar in Pekan this weekend.
The Caviaga Modenas Cilik Racing rider failed to get on the podium in the previous two rounds and is now in fourth place in the standings on 79 points.
The leader is Motul Yamaha YY Pang’s Mohd Adib Rosley (125 points) followed by team-mate Mohd Azhar Abdul Jalil (113) and Modenas Forty One Racing’s Mohd Syawalludin Mohd Zaki (80).
“I am on thin ice right now as Adib has a 46-point advantage over me but hopes to win the title are not lost yet because there are three races more to go,” said the 16-year-old.
“Anything can happen and Adib will have to work extra hard to fend off his rivals to consolidate his position. He cannot afford to make any mistake.”
Fitri added that to keep his title chase alive, he too cannot afford any more slip-ups in his bid to make up for lost ground.
“Therefore in this coming leg, I must remain 100% focused on my target to at least get on the podium. That is the only way for me to close the gap on the leaders,” he said.
