PETALING JAYA: Chang Thailand Slammers are on a roll in the AirAsia Asean Basketball League (ABL) this season.
The newcomers chalked up their third consecutve win in the championship when they outplayed Satria Muda BritAma of Indonesia 84–63 at the BritAma Arena in Jakarta yesterday.
The reigning ABL best import ‘Player of the Year’, Chris Kuete from Cameroon, was in hot form with 28 points as the Thai club lead the six-team tournament with six points ahead of defending champions Philippine Patriots on countback.
The Slammers, who defeated Westports KL Dragons (79-74) and Brunei Barracudas (76-59) in earlier matches, are down to play the Philippine Patriots in a mouth-watering clash at the Nimibutr National Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday.
Meanwhile, KL Dragon coach Goh Cheng Huat has his work cut out after they fell to their third straight defeat of the season yesterday. They were beaten 24-61 by Singapore Slingers at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The Dragons had earlier lost to Chang Thailand Slammers (74-79) and Satria Muda BritAma (68-77).
