Syawal eyes fruitful outing in Malacca cub prix

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Syawalludin Mohd Zaki is aiming for a fruitful outing in Round 7 of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships at Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca this weekend.

The Modenas FortyOne Racing rider in the Wira category says his season will be incomplete without another podium finish after chalking his season first in the opening leg in Alor Setar by finishing second and then ending up third in Round 3 in Batu Kawan.

The 17-year-old Terengganu lad is currently fourth in the standings with 69 points after six rounds while Mohd Adib Rosley of Yamaha YY Pang is in pole position with 100 points.

Adib’s team-mate, Mohd Azhar Abdul Jalil is currently second on 97 points, followed by Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali (Caviaga Modenas Cilik Racing) in third place on 79 points. “The past three rounds have been sour for me. My pace dropped during races because I did not focus hard enough,” said Syawal.
