VALENCIA: In an overhaul of the world’s oldest sporting competition, the next America’s Cup sailing event in 2013 will use catamarans instead of the traditional monohulls.
The new action-packed format is designed to appeal to “the Facebook generation, not the Flinstone generation,” Russell Coutts, the CEO of America’s Cup defenders Oracle, said at a press conference here yesterday.
