No team orders as Azhar and Adib vie for title

PETALING JAYA: Motul Yamaha YY Pang riders Mohd Azhar Abdul Jalil and Mohd Adib Rosley (pic) are both in contention for the 2010 Wira title but there will be no team orders given to them in Round 6 of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship in Taiping this weekend.

After Round 5 in Kuala Terengganu, defending champion Azhar leads the way with 77 points, with Adib two points behind.

Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali of Caviaga Modenas Cilik Racing is third with 70 points, followed by Modenas FortyOne Racing’s Mohd Syawalludin Mohd Zaki (69pts).

Motul Yamaha team manager Pang Yoke Yue, better known as YY Pang, prefers a healthy competition between both his riders “as long as they do not take each other down”.

“I have never issued any team orders because I believe it’s bad for the riders’ self-esteem,” said Pang.

“I let them battle it out between themselves and let the best rider win. But I always remind them to act wisely and to do the team proud.

“It feels great to see both Azhar and Adib back in control. I hope they will continue their good run until the end of the season.

“So far they have paired up well, backing each other up in the race, sharing tips, planning race strategy and encouraging each other. They do not have any personal agenda but always give priority to the team. We are proud of them.”
