JOHANNESBURG: The Spanish man who ran on to the pitch at the World Cup final and tried to place a hat on top of the trophy was fined 2,000 rand (US$260) by a South African court late on Monday.
Jaume Marquet Cot, 34, appeared in the dedicated World Cup court in Johannesburg on charges of trespassing and attempted theft after he sprinted on to the field at Soccer City ahead of kickoff at Sunday’s final.
