El Nino in fitness race for opener

MADRID: Spain striker Fernando Torres is working six hours a day in a bid to recover from knee surgery and be fit enough to line up for his country’s opening match at the World Cup Finals.

The Liverpool forward had an operation on his right knee last month, and after a medical check up with the national team on Monday was included in Spain coach Vicente del Bosque’s preliminary 30-man squad.
