NEW YORK (AP): When the New York Yankees received their World Series rings on the field on Tuesday, the biggest cheers from the crowd went to a man who's not a Yankee anymore - Hideki Matsui.
When Matsui last played in Yankee Stadium, he drove in six runs to finish off the Philadelphia Phillies and was voted World Series MVP. He left the team to sign with the Los Angeles Angels, after the Yankees decided he was too old and too injury prone. The Angels happened to be the opponent for New York's home opener, which it won 7-5.
