LONDON: Andy Carroll was Newcastle’s hero as he scored the winner in a 1-0 victory away to Doncaster on Tuesday that extended their lead at the top of the English Second Division to five points.
Carroll, reportedly involved in a training-ground bust-up on Sunday which left team-mate Steven Taylor with a suspected broken jaw, scored the only goal of the game after 59 minutes at the Keepmoat Stadium.
