S. Africa denies North Koreans working on World Cup spots


SEOUL, South Korea (AP): South African officials have denied a report that North Korean labourers are working on football stadiums across the country ahead of this year's World Cup, a news agency said Tuesday.

South Korea's JoongAng Ilbo newspaper reported Monday that some 1,000 construction workers from reclusive North Korea had been sent to help build and renovate stadiums in South Africa, including the venue where the North will play Ivory Coast during its first World Cup appearance since 1966. The report cited unidentified sources.
