Death of luger overshadows Olympic competition

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Fallout from the death of a Georgian luger and uncooperative weather on the mountain in Whistler overshadowed early Olympic competition and the first gold medals of the Vancouver Games on Saturday.

A day after Nodar Kumaritashvili died in a horrific crash, the luge track was kept closed longer than planned but finally reopened for training - with the starting point moved farther down the track.
