PARIS: France coach Raymond Domenech is almost 862,000 richer after leading Les Bleus to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, according to France Football yesterday.
The French football magazine published a list of the bonuses awarded to the French football delegation for qualifying, with Domenech reportedly being given close to 862,000.
Amid the ongoing Thierry Henry handball affair which led to France’s controversial qualification for the World Cup at the expense of the Republic of Ireland, Domenech is no better off in the popularity stakes.
In a poll yesterday published by Le Parisien newspaper 43% of a sample of the French public said Domenech should not lead France to the World Cup.
Thirty-nine per cent were in favour of the Frenchman while 18% had no opinion. — AFP
