NEW HAVEN (Connecticut): Spain’s Fernando Verdasco won the first ATP hard-court title of his career with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over American Sam Querrey in the Pilot Pen Championships final on Saturday, just hours after he had won his semi-final.
The 25-year-old second seed had earlier dispatched Igor Andreev of Russia 7-6, 7-6 in his semi-final to advance to the final against sixth-seeded Querrey.
