Back-up singles shuttler finally scores a breakthrough


PETALING JAYA: Men’s back-up singles shuttler Tan Chun Seang reached his first quarter-finals in an Open tournament by pulling off another upset win at the Indian Open in Hyderabad yesterday.

Chun Seang, the world No. 73, clawed his way back from a sluggish start to beat India’s Anup Sridhar 9-21, 21-19, 21-18 in 49 minutes to clear the third round hurdle.
