RIO DE JANEIRO: FIFA will announce the 12 host cities for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in May and not later this month as originally planned, world soccer’s governing body said on Wednesday.
The decision was originally due to be announced at a meeting of the FIFA executive committee on March 19-20 in Zurich, with 17 cities putting themselves forward as candidates. FIFA said the delay followed a decision to increase the number of host cities from 10 to 12 at Brazil’s request.
