PETALING JAYA: National shooter Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi lived up to expectations by shooting down the 10m air rifle gold on the first day of the Selangor Shooting Championships at the Subang Shooting Range yesterday.
Nur Suryani, 27, helped the Armed Forces shooters make a clean sweep by accumulating 496.7 points to take the air rifle gold ahead of team-mates Shahera Rahim Raja (492.9) and Haslisa Hamed (488.4).
“I was not at my best today (yesterday) and made several mistakes. I know I can perform better,” said Nur Suryani.
The trio also won the 10m air pistol team gold with a 1,173 total, beating Pahang and Selangor into second and third places respectively.
The Armed Forces shooters clinched five of the 12 gold medals on offer yesterday, with Denis Ajoh leading the men’s charge by taking the 50m pistol individual and team golds.
