KUALA LUMPUR: A footballer who played for the national team in the 1990s and a friend of his pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here Monday to getting involved in a fight with four football players of the Air Panas Setapak Sports Club, about two weeks ago.
M. Elangoo, 32, and A. Sathiaseelan, 35, and 10 others who are still at large were charged with assaulting Mohamad Ishak Kunju Mohamad, 37, S. Poovalingam, 37, M. Siva Shanker, 36 and V. Balakrishnan, 39, using hockey sticks and chairs as weapons.
They were alleged to have committed the offence at the SMT Food Corner outlet in Air Panas, Setapak, at around 3.30am last Dec 20.
Magistrate Norazah Kasran permitted bail at RM2,500 in one surety for each of them and set Feb 23 for remention.
C/Insp Aliff Charles Belon appeared for the prosecution while both the accused were unrepresented. -- Bernama
