Australian government pledges funding for 2018 bid


CANBERRA, Australia (AP) - The Australian government will commit 45.6 million Australian dollars ($30 million) to a World Cup 2018 bid.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd announced the funding Wednesday, confirming his government would work with Football Federation Australia to bring the world's biggest single sports event Down Under.
