Veteran sees Malaysia in final of AFF tourney


PETALING JAYA: Seasoned campaigner Hairuddin Omar is optimistic that Malaysia will be strong contenders for a place in the final of the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup tournament in December.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder said coach B. Sathianathan had the material in his squad to make a strong impression in the championship, which Malaysia had yet to become champions since its inception in 1996.
