PETALING JAYA: National back-up players Tan Chun Seang and Teo Kok Siang failed to clear the first-round hurdles in the Taiwan Open badminton championships in Taipei yesterday.
Chun Seang, who is tipped to be promoted to the elite squad before the year is over, showed his inconsistent side again in a 17-21, 15-21, 19-21 defeat by Japan’s Takuma Ueda while Kok Siang was beaten 22-20, 11-21, 7-21 by Taiwanese Jen Hao-hsu.
