PARIS: The United States opened their semi-final round of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa qualifying with a 1-0 win over host Guatemala on Wednesday.
American defender Carlos Bocanegra scored the lone goal in the 69th minute for the Americans who were outplayed for much of the game but managed to escape with the win.
