SEOUL: South Korea's weightlifters are using ginseng to improve their prospects of Olympic glory thanks to a timely donation, sports officials said yesterday.
The Korea Weightlifting Federation said the state-run Korea Ginseng Corporation in May agreed to provide 30 sets of red ginseng extract each month for two years.
The extract, combined with other natural herbs, costs 130,000 won (US$140) a pack and donations can be extended if athletes feel the benefit, Yonhap news agency reported.
Many Koreans use natural herb extracts to help improve their performance in sports, work and study.
