JAKARTA: In a surprise twist of events, four riders who secured podium finishes and also seen as strong contenders for the Petronas Sprinta FIM Asian Grand Prix title this season have been disqualified in the opening leg in Sentul here late on Sunday.
The bikes belonging to Ahmad Fuad Baharuddin of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Malaysia, Chalermpol Polamai of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Thailand, Toshiyuki Hamaguchi and Makoto Inagaki of Babie's Sports Racing were found to have infringed technical regulations following a post-race scrutinising check.
