KUALA LUMPUR: Track cyclist Rizal Tisin has a chance to stake a place in Malaysian cycling history when he rides in the Asian Cycling Championships starting in Nara, Japan tomorrow.
The in-form 22-year-old set a new Asian record of 1:02.409 en route to a fifth place finish in the Track World Championships in Manchester 10 days ago and that performance has put him as the favourite for the 1km time trial gold medal. No Malaysian has captured the 1km time trial title in the Asian championships before.
