BEIJING: Beijing police have launched a campaign toclear the city’s streets of beggars to create a “civilisedand sound” environment for the August OlympicGames, state media reported yesterday.
Officers will patrol the city 24 hours a day, lookingnot just for beggars, but also peddlers, pamphlet distributorsand tricycle taxi drivers who ply their trades withoutlicences, the Beijing Morning Post reported.
