KUALA TERENGGANU: An international sailing school will be set up at Pulau Duyong, off the coast here, to train sailors and to promote water sports among youth.
“The school will be of national interest and could become a regional institute for Southeast Asia," said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
He has asked Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Azlina Othman Said to look into the agenda, the Prime Minister said during the commodores’ luncheon, in conjunction with the Monsoon Cup 2007 sailing competition at the Heritage Bay Marina and Resort Club on Sunday.
Abdullah said the proposed school would be of international standard and would churn out professional sailors.
Regarding the Monsoon Cup, the prime minister said it was a great achievement for the sailing fraternity and should be extended to youths.
