Amir chases down national record

PETALING JAYA: National cyclist Amir Mustapha Rusli (pic) provided the only highlight for Malaysia when he set a new national record in the men’s 4km individual pursuit event in the opening leg of the UCI Track World Cup at the Dunc Gray Velodrome in Sydney yesterday.

Amir, who is part of the men’s 4km individual pursuit team who took silver in the Sultan Azlan Shah Asia Cup in Cheras last week, clocked a time of 4.43.977 to smash the previous national record of 4:46.271 set by Fauzan Lufti in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games last year.
