Badminton: Mixed fortunes for our juniors in world championships

PETALING JAYA: Boys' singles shuttler Mohd Arif Abdul Latif scored a breakthrough but it was a sad end to the junior careers of Asian mixed doubles champions Tan Wee Kiong-Woon Khe Wei (pic) in the KLRC World Junior Championships in Auckland yesterday.

The 18-year-old Arif, who is still affected by a groin injury suffered in the mixed team competition last week, showed true grit to score a 21-17, 21-18 win over South Korean Kim Sa-rang for his first quarter-finals appearance in the championships.
