GLASGOW: Guinea defender Bobo Balde said yesterday that he wants to quit Scottish champions Celtic during the January transfer window after losing his place in the side.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: “I have been told I am not in the top two or top three (central defenders), so I am down to sixth on the list. The manager (Gordon Strachan) and (chairman) Peter Lawwell told me this.

“I am very low on the list of players to play so it is hard to think that I will play again. But I want to tell people I have been here seven years and am working as hard as I can.”

The 32-year-old has yet to play this season and could head to the English Premier League in January.

“I had contact with Roy Keane on the last day of the (August) transfer window and they wanted me at Sunderland,” said Balde.

“I wanted a permanent contract but Peter Lawwell could not find a way to let me go permanently. – AFP
